# Cross-Country Time

By default, Wader sets cross-country time equal to **block time** (OUT to IN). This is compliant with FAA 14 CFR requirements, where block time equals the aircraft in motion for flight purposes.

If your regulatory framework uses a different definition of cross-country — for example, one based on distance — you can manually adjust the cross-country checkbox on each flight. The default behavior can also be changed in **Preferences → Cross-country default**.

## Setting cross-country correctly for your needs

**FAA pilots**: the default (block time = cross-country time) is typically correct and requires no adjustment.

**EASA pilots**: cross-country under EASA has a different definition from the FAA standard. Check your national authority's requirements and adjust the cross-country checkbox manually on each flight where needed.

The **Cross-Country checkbox** on the flight form controls whether that individual flight counts as cross-country in your logbook totals.
